What is Composite floor Decking

Composite floor decking is using the steel beams to be connected with the concrete floor slabs. It utilizes the advantage of both steel and concrete. Therefore, it is more cost-effective form of construction.

The Deck was the positive moment support in the reinforced concrete slab by interlocking the steel sheet and the concrete slab. Additionally, the deck even acted as the concrete formwork.  The resulting combined component was now recognized as a composite slab and the steel plate are known as a composite. 

In a composite floor decking, the concrete is connected to the steel deck by means of studs (or other shear-resisting elements), so that the concrete and the steel deck are integrated, enhancing the shear resistance of the floor slab.

The ribs of the steel deck have the function of providing positive bending moment reinforcement, which can save the reinforcement in the use stage of the floor slab; at the same time, in the fire stage, due to better combination with the concrete, the fire resistance performance is greatly improved.
