What is Composite floor Decking for

Composite floor decking is using the steel beams to be connected with the concrete floor slabs. It utilizes the advantage of both steel and concrete. Therefore, it is more cost-effective form of construction.

Composite floor decks combine the tensile strength of steel with the compressive strength of concrete to improve design efficiency and potentially reduce the volume of material necessary to cover a given area. These decks, when supported by composite steel beams, can span greater distances between supporting elements and have reduced live load deflection when compared to previous construction methods.

In composite floor deck, the concrete is connected to the steel deck by means of studs (or other shear-resisting elements), so that the concrete and the steel deck are integrated, enhancing the shear resistance of the floor slab.

The ribs of the steel deck have the function of providing positive bending moment reinforcement, which can save the reinforcement in the use stage of the floor slab; at the same time, in the fire stage, due to better combination with the concrete, the fire resistance performance is greatly improved.
