What is Composite Steel Decking for?

The steel deck is combined with the cast-in-place concrete (after reaching strength), the steel deck acts as a permanent formwork for the poured concrete during the construction stage, and in the normal use stage, all or part of the steel deck acts as a tensile reinforcement at the bottom of the slab. Floors are called composite floors.

Floor slabs that use this design are called non-composite slabs, which only act as permanent formwork for pouring concrete during the construction phase and completely withdraw from work during the normal use phase.

Therefore, it is not difficult to see from the above definition that the role of the steel deck in the composite steel deck mainly has two aspects:

1. Act as a permanent formwork for pouring concrete during the construction phase;

2. All or part of the tensile reinforcement at the bottom of the slab during normal use.
