ERECTION of floor deck

ERECTION

A. Install deck units and recommendations and final shop drawings, and as specified herein.

B. Place steel decking on structure and adjust to final position before permanently securing thereto. Bring each unit to proper bearing on supporting members. Pack, if required, between supporting steel and steel deck.

C. Align deck end to end to accurately fit with the corresponding sections, with sections parallel, even and straight.

D. After alignment and levelling fasten deck units to structure at ends of units and at intermediate supports.

E. Install necessary angle and channel closure pieces at ends of deck abutting other steel.

F. Attach metal cell closures at locations required to contain poured concrete.

G. Install edge forming for concrete cover slabs.

H. Reinforcement is not required for circular deck openings smaller than 150mm diameter or square deck openings smaller than 150mm x 150mm, provided that not more than two vertical webs are removed.

I. For circular deck openings between 150mm and 300mm diameter, or square deck

openings between 150mm x 150mm and 300mm x 300mm in size, install 50mm x50mm x 6mm steel angles, perpendicular to flutes, welded to 2 flutes each side of opening.

J. For circular deck openings larger than 300mm diameter or square deck openings larger than 300mm x 300mm, separate framing will be supplied under Section Structural Steel.

K. Immediately after decking is permanently secured in place, touch up galvanized surface with primer where damaged.

L. Verify and approve alignment and levels of supporting members before laying deck.

M. Do not proceed with erection until conditions are made satisfactory.
